Data linkage / Probability linkage
Data linkage, or record linkage, is a method to combine two existing datasets in case there is no unique identifier (e.g. social security number) available. We apply probabilistic record linkage methods to identify the likelihood of two records belonging to the same person, based on available information in both datasets, like names, date of birth, gender, nationality, address etc. The probabilistic record linkage method allows for typos in names, as similarities are calculated. For projects, where names or other identifying information are not allowed to be delivered to the linkage center, we've developed privacy preserving probabilistic record linkage methods where sensitive information is encrypted.
